The Port Vendre military naval training centre was named after Petty Officer Jean-François Fort, who died on board the Minerve.

He was a native of the town, where part of his family still lives.

This year, under the direction of Lieutenant-Commander Mathieu Durand, the presentation of badges and certificates to the trainees in the marine military training course took place at a ceremony attended by Grégory Marty, Mayor of Port Vendre, Vice-Admiral Lionel Mathieu, Commander of the French Navy in Marseille, Clara Thomas, Sub-Prefect of the Céret district, Michèle Martinez, Member of Parliament for the 4th constituency, and Samuel Moli, Regional Councillor.
